Welcome to Sail Royal Greenwich!

Parades

Every day during the Tall Ships Festival there will be a different parade of historical ships on the Thames at Maritime Greenwich. Check the following program to see what is on when. Timing is approximate due to tides.

Friday September 5th, 3pm-4:30pm: Traditional Thames Barges

This kind of traditional sailing barges used to sail the Thames commercially in the 19th century. The flat bottomed barges were perfect for the Thames Estuary, with its shallow waters and narrow rivers. The parade starts at Maritime Greenwich and ends at Royal Arsenal Woolwich.

Saturday September 6th, 12pm-2pm: Traditional Ships

This parade of Traditional Ships starts at Maritime Greenwich and ends at Royal Arsenal Woolwich.

Sunday September 7th, 11:30am-1pm: Royal Pageant

See Her Majesty the Queen's row barge Gloriana. The Gloriana will be accompanied by an escort of traditional rowing boats. This parade will be followed by races for the Trinity House 500 Challenge.

Monday September 8th, 2pm-3:30pm: Puffers and Dunkirk ships

A parade of classic vessels along the River Thames, from Maritime Greenwich to Royal Arsenal Woolwich. This parade includes Puffers (steam ships), ships that took part in the rescue from Dunkirk in 1940, and a vintage fireboat.

Tuesday September 9th, 1pm-4pm: THE PARADE OF SAIL

Watch all of the Tall Ships that came to Greenwich as part of the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta. They will leave Greenwich in a grand final parade. If you would like to be part of this unique experience book your tickets for the Parade of Sail VIP Cruise.
